Their Story
In 2004, Thom and Michele Hazelip sensed God impressing on their hearts to move to inner-city East Nashville. Two years later, the Hazelips and their 3 children moved to the drug and crime-ridden community of McFerrin Park. After meeting the children and moms on their street and seeing the need that surrounded them, their hearts opened up to whatever God had planned for them. That first summer in 2006, the Hazelips spent hours on the front porch playing with the neighborhood kids, taking them places with their family and teaching them about God’s goodness in their lives. It didn’t take long for Thom and Michele to realize that God had called them into relationships with their neighbors using their front porch. God had called them to be missionaries in their own neighborhood. 3 years later, Front Porch Ministry became an official non-profit ministry and began raising support as the Hazelips began to devote themselves full-time to impacting their community for Christ.
